Sending Robots to the Stars is a Bad Alternative

The scientific areas of artificial (AI) and robotics may one day create a species of AI robot that could ultimately seek mastery over man. This is a still distant conjecture but worth considering in light of the proposal to construct an atomic star ship with enormous power at its disposal. In the event that Orion speed trials done on the edges of our solar system demonstrate going beyond the speed of light is impossible, the use of robots would be inevitably suggested. For the reason that many decades of sub light speed travel in a spaceship could be accomplished by robots. However that could create a future asylum for a rogue A.I. species is in the stars.

There would be a significant risk that once settled and secure in a nearby solar system, the A.I. species could return at will to conquer. Hence the use of robotics to travel on our behalf to the worlds of other solar systems should never be attempted. The logical motivation of profit would risk encouraging the introduction of A.I. robots so advanced that it could allow A.I. to gain a foothold on a world we could never step foot on.
